Chapter 1

Asking for and Giving an Opinion

ASKING & GIVING OPINION

Opinion includes the words of opinion and argument/ reasons.

Opinion dialogue is a dialog consists of two persons or more who have opinion each others. It can use the expressions, such as in my opinion, in my view, I think etc.

Argument dialogue is a dialog that states the arguments or reasons. It can use the words such as first, second etc for arranging arguments.

Giving opinion : (Ungkapan Memberikan pendapat)

Ø  In my opinion … (Pendapatku)

Ø  As far as I’m concerned… (sejauh yang saya ketahui )

Ø  I (really) feel (that)… (saya merasa bahwa)

Asking for opinion : (Ungkapan menanyakan pendapat)

Ø  Have you got any thoughts on this? (Punya saran soal ini?)

Agreeing to someone opinion (ungkapan setuju pendapat seseorang)

Chapter 2

FORMAL INVITATION

Sesuai dengan namanya, formal invitation merupakan undangan yang bersifat formal dan resmi

Formal invitation terdiri dari 2 bentuk yaitu, dalam bentuk Kartu dan Surat. Pada umumnya struktur undangan resmi dalam bentuk kartu terdiri atas:

•Name of the host( Nama yang mengadakan acara/ yang mengundang)

•Standard expression(uangkapan yang digunakan dalam mengundang). Examples: “Request the pleasure of your presence”, “cordially request the pleasure...”, “please join us”, “you are invited”, “request the honor of your presence”, etc.

 •Detail information including day, date, time, and venue of the event(mencantumkan informasi rinci antara lain Hari, tanggal, waktu, dan Tempat)

•Purpose of invitation(Tujuan undangan)

•Special note (e.g. dress code, reservation/RSPV). Tulisan khusus, misalnya dress code (para undangan diminta untuk memaki seragam yang sudah di tentukan), Reservition/RSPV (Istilah ini berasal dari Bahasa Prancis yaitu Répondez S’il Vous Plaît (dibaca Repongdey Sil Vu Ple) Artinya, “Anda perlu konfirmasi untuk datang”. Jika menggunakan bahasa Inggris, RSVP diartikan“Please respond”.

Sedangkan struktur undangan resmi dalam bentuk surat, strukturnya terdiri atas:

·Heading (Kepala Surat), biasanya berisi alamat si pengirim maupun si penerima surat

·Salutation/greeting. Salam pembuka, contohnya: The Honorable Mr/ Mrs..., Dear...

·Body of letter(Isi surat)oGeneral information(informasi Umum)

oOccasion

oDetail information including day, date, time, and venue of the event. ( informasi rinci surat yang berisihari, tanggal, waktu dan tempat).

oPurpose of invitation(Tujuan Undangan)

·Complimentary sign/closing(Salam Penutup)

·Signature (Tanda Tangan)

·Name of the host and Job position (Nama dari orang yang mengadakan acara/ tuan rumah, dan Posisi jabatan pekerjaan).

CHAPTER 3

ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT

Analytical exposition adalah teks bahasa inggris yang tujuannya untuk menyampaikan pandangan penulis mengenai suatu isu. Teks ini merupakan teks argumentatif yang berusaha untuk meyakinkan pembaca bahwa isu yang dibahas merupakan isu penting. Selain mencurahkan isi pikiran penulis, analytical exposition text juga bertujuan untuk memberikan sudut pandang lain kepada pembaca. 

Struktur Analytical Exposition

Sama seperti dengan teks pada umumnya, analytical exposition text memiliki struktur penulisan. Berikut ini struktur penulisan analytical exposition text:

Thesis

Dalam teks ini, biasanya di paragraf pertama pembaca bisa mengetahui isu apa yang sedang dibahas. Selain itu, pembaca juga bisa mengetahui pandangan penulis terhadap isu tersebut.

Arguments

Bagian ini berisi argumen penulis terhadap isu atau peristiwa yang sedang dibahas olehnya. Biasanya terdapat dua pendapat atau lebih yang berfungsi untuk mendukung topik utama.

Conclusion

Kalau kamu udah di bagian ini, berarti kamu udah hampir selesai membaca teks tersebut. Biasanya bagian ini berisi recap dari topik dan argumen yang ditulis oleh si penulis.

The fact that the pandemic corona virus infected more and more victims. People should stay home to stop the pandemic diases for some reasons. The first, people should stay home because if they have physical contact, people will be easier infected each other. Research indicates that the virus spread through physical contact, which means the more physical contact yis happened, the higher the risk of the virus spreading. The second, people have to stay at home so for the people who has been infected can't take the virusto infect others. Because of staying at home, you can do an independent isolation for 2 weeks and monitor your helath while contacting the medical care for further information. The last, staying at home make people cure themselves instead of infect the others. Just like the previous point, if you are not a high-risk patient, then you can heal yourself at home independently. It can also help medical workers to work in hospitals with patients who are more at risk. All of these efforts are not only about not getting coronavirus, but also aboutnot spreading it to other people that might not be able to fight it off easily. There are many ways that could affect society that people should take care about fighting this Pandemic, and staying at home is one of it.

Telepone merupakan hal umum yang telah menjadi bagian dari kehidupan kita sehari hari.hampir semua orang mempunyai telepone dan tahu bagaimana menggunakannya.

Materi kali ini kita akan membahas bagaimana cara panggilan lewat telepon, menjawab telepon masuk, membuat pesan,meninggalkan pesan lewat telepon.

A.      MAKING A PHONE CALL

Digunakan pada saat kita ingin membuat sebuah panggilan lewat telepon

Contoh : Hello, My name is Fira, I would like to speak to Mr. Rico,please.

                 (helo nama saya fira, saya inging berbicara dengan pak Rico)

B.      ANSWERING A PHONE CALL

Digunakan untuk menjawab telepone. Dalam hal ini kita harus menggunakan bahasa, suara, nada  yg sopan dan jelas.

Contoh : Good morning,Nelshon Enterprise , My name is Vanesa, what can I do for you?

                ( selamat pagi,dengan perusahaan Nelson, ada yang bisa saya bantu?)

C.      TAKING A PHONE MESSAGE

Digunakan pada saat kita tidak berhasil menghubungi orang yang dimaksud, kita bisa membuat pesan )

Contoh : I’m sorry, He is not in today, would you like to leave a message?

                 ( maaf dia tidak masuk hari ini, apakah anda ingin meninggalkan pesan)

D.      LEAVING A PHONE MESSAGE

Digunakan pada saat kita tidak berhasil menghubungi orang yang di tuju, kita bisa meninggalkan pesan )

Contoh : Can you tell Mrs, yanti that I called?

                ( bisakah anda menyampaikan pada bu yanti bahwa saya menelpon)

Operator  : Good morning,ND enterprise, my name is Lita, what can I do for you?

Vera          : Morning,I’m Vera, could I speak to Mrs.WIDYA?

Operator   : One moment please, I’ll check if Mrs.Widya is available.
